In July 2024, a tornado touched down in Moravia, NY. The result was nothing short of catastrophic for this 1850’s barn. I helped clean up the wreckage and managed to find some old growth lumber in solid condition. Farmers with collapsed barns will often burn this wood or let it rot due to a shortage of time. One way to divert this waste is by creating furniture pieces.

Custom built to fit within an office nook, this desk helps create a vibrant workspace in an underutilized room. Removable legs allow for easy installation and maneuverability through doorways.

The Table top and skirt are planed down from 2” yellow pine boards, while legs are made from old hemlock roof bracing. Hanger bolt inserts and bolts allow for onsite assembly with a wrench.

The table top is composed of White Pine, Hemlock, and White Oak all planed down from 2” barn floorboards. The angled legs are cut from Hemlock roof bracing, providing a stable base.
